What is Accuvein Vein Illuminator?
Anytime you are receiving injectable treatments, there is a certain amount of bruising that happens. This is because the veins in your face are very delicate and almost impossible to avoid, until now. Accuvein is a technology that allows the Dr. to see a map of the veins that lie up to 10mm under the skin. Once these veins are detected, a map of them is projected on top of the skin so that they can be avoided during the injectable treatment taking place. This make the recovery of injectable treatments even easier and quicker.
How Does Accuvein Work?
This new Accuvein technology uses two lasers to project a map of your veins on the surface of your skin. One of these lasers is infrared and the other is a visible red light. When this device is held over the skin, it is able to detect blood found under the skin since the infrared light is absorbed by hemoglobin. Once the veins are mapped, the second red light is what projects the map image of your veins on the surface of your skin.
Accuvein Used to Assist in IV Insertion
Placing an IV can be difficult in some patients and require several pokes before it is placed in the vein. With Accuvein, the map of veins beneath the skin on the surface of the skin, gives the nurse the ability to place the IV on the first attempt (although our nurse never misses with plain eye). This is ideal for nutrition bars and infusion centers. No longer do patients have to be concerned that they are going to get poked several times before their IV is placed.
