Cosmetic fillers can be used to fix many issues related to facial aging such as:
1. Fillers can add volume and smooth out deep creases that run from the nose to the mouth. These are called laugh lines or nasolabial folds.
2. Thin lips can become plump with cosmetic fillers. They will smooth out the vertical lines that start to appear around the edges of the lips.
3. Cheeks can be augmented to enhance their shape and will create a youthful fullness.
4. Depressions or hollows under the eye area can be filled out.
5. Scars from acne or chicken pox that are indented, can be evened out with the skin around them.
6. Fat pads shift under the surface of the skin and the area around the lower cheek and temple can be filled out.

How Cosmetic Fillers are Different from Botox

Cosmetic fillers are naturally-derived or synthetic material that is directly injected onto the skin. The result is plumping of the areas until the wrinkle, fold or depressions disappears. The effects can last from six months to two years but will depend on the kind of filler used. If semi-permanent or permanent fillers are used, your results can last for up to five years or longer. Cosmetic fillers should not be confused with Botox. Both are done with injections, but Botox is usually injected around the forehead and the wrinkles around the eyes, also known as crows feet, to prevent the muscles from moving which is what causes wrinkles. Botox has nothing to do with plumping and smoothing, like cosmetic fillers do and because they both work differently, many people have both of these procedures performed. Using both can be an excellent way to have a younger looking face.

Natural VS Synthetic Fillers?

There are two groups of cosmetic fillers, synthetic and natural. The most widely used natural filler is hyaluronic acid. Natural fillers have a lower risk of causing an allergic reaction and the results are immediate but they will only last for three to 18 months. These fillers will break down and take the results with it. Once the breakdown starts, you’ll need to go back if you want to maintain the results, usually within a year. Synthetic fillers will last longer than natural fillers. They are considered to be semi-permanent or permanent because they don’t really breakdown. As your face continues to age or you’re lax with sunscreen, the wrinkles will start to return.
