Waxing bumps occur after waxing anywhere on the body. Additionally, waxing bumps come in different forms. It is important to take action after waxing to prevent waxing bumps from occurring and most especially for skin types that are prone to waxing bumps. Skin & Body Refinery will share how to prevent or treat waxing bumps when you’re finished waxing any part of your body.

Prevention of Red or White Waxing Bumps

For those prone to waxing bumps, you will want to begin prevention techniques or methods to help reduce waxing bumps after waxing. Here are a few suggestions on preventing waxing bumps.
Exfoliate – Before you wax your body, you will want to exfoliate. When you exfoliate you remove dead skin cells which help prevent waxing bumps in a few ways. First, it helps to remove all the oil and dirt off of your skin which often is the cause of the red bumps. Light exfoliating also helps make the hair stand more erect, making hair removal more efficient.
Cleanse – If you don’t have the time or ability to exfoliate your skin before waxing, then do the next best thing. Use a good cleanser and wash your body or area that is being waxed. You will want to avoid leaving any dirt, oil, lotion or makeup on when waxing. All can irritate the skin and cause waxing bumps to occur.
Heat – If you’re waxing your face or body, it helps to expose your skin to heat. Taking a warm shower before waxing helps soften the skin and pores which allows the hair to come out more easily. Additionally you get the chance to remove all the dirt, oil and make up or lotion off of your skin.

How to Treat Pimples, Bumps & Rashes After Waxing

For those skin types where it doesn’t matter how much you prepare beforehand and they still get waxing bumps, your next step is to treat them. Here are some suggestions on how to treat the problem.
Medical products – Probably one of the best ways to help clear up waxing bumps is to medically treat them. You can use products for razor rash such as hydrocortisone. Or you can use basic products that are designed to soothe irritated skin. Some will swear by using either rubbing alcohol or even vinegar.
Switch Wax – Sometimes it is the type of wax that can cause the red bumps to occur. There are now several different hair removal methods and waxes used. You may want to look around for a different method and see if your skin reacts better. Treatment sometimes is looking for another alternative that causes the red bumps.
Diet – Our diet plays a big role for our skin. Some foods cause your skin to develop more oils and have a harder time fighting infections in the skin. Drinking plenty of water and eating foods such as nuts, yogurt, and some fruit are great for the skin and improve your skin’s health.
