Are you concerned about the appearance of your complexion? A chemical peel may be just what the doctor ordered for the appearance of younger, healthy looking skin. Chemical peels are designed to remove the damaged and dull top layer of skin to reveal the radiant new skin below the surface. Traditionally, chemical peels have been associated with a long recovery time that involves extensive peeling however recent advances in medicine have produced an entirely different chemical treatment that provides all the benefits of a tradition chemical peel without the long healing process.

Benefits of a VI Peel

VI peels are one of the safest peels available and provide remarkable results in the skin rejuvenation processes. The treatment itself is not only effective it is also extremely gentle and it can be used to treat even the most delicate areas of the face including the under eye area. The peel can be applied to remove hyperpigmentation, but it is also beneficial in diminishing wrinkles, improving skin damaged by sun, and effectively removing acne scarring. As an added benefit, the body’s natural reserves of collagen and elastin production are increased after the peel giving your skin the ability to continuously improve over the next several months. The VI peel uses a combination of chemicals including trichloroacetic acid (TCA) to smooth the appearance of deep scarring and stimulate collagen, Retin A to soften the appearance of fine lines and moderate wrinkles, salicylic acid to exfoliate the skin, Phenol to treat deeper lines and creasing, and vitamin C to brighten the appearance of the skin.

VI Peel Peeling Process

The treatment requires no down time so you can return to your daily activities immediately and the application of the peel itself is virtually pain free with patients experiencing a mild tingling sensation during the process. The peeling experienced after treatment is mild compared to traditional peels and a moisturizer can be applied to the skin to combat any flakiness. VI Peels are safe for all skin types and age groups. Your Skin & Body Refinery experienced licensed aesthetician will perform an examination of your skin and review your skin improvement goals before creating a customized treatment plan designed especially for you. Your first office appointment will take approximately 30 minutes from beginning to end. You will be giving instructions on how to care for your skin during the healing process which includes avoiding sun exposure and wearing a sunscreen which contains an SPF of 30 or higher.

VI Peel Aftercare & Recovery

Two to three days after your treatment, the skin will begin to flake, this is a normal part of the healing process and takes approximately three to four days to complete. One week after the peeling has finished, you will experience skin that is visibly smoother and more radiant with improved skin tone and texture. For optimal results we recommend a series of four treatments, one treatment scheduled every four weeks to achieve the appearance of fully rejuvenated skin with healthy and youthful appearance.
