It can be a struggle to maintain our eyebrows so that we get the perfect look we want. If you are annoyed with constantly filling in the sparse spots of your eyebrows or if they are just not growing back due to overplucking, microblading could be the perfect solution! What exactly is microblading? The name can sound confusing and ominous. It’s quite simple, actually. Microblading is a procedure in which someone receives a semi-permanent tattoo where their eyebrows normally are. A handheld eyebrow pen is used to draw strokes that look like real eyebrow hairs. It is unlike getting a regular tattoo in the sense that the ink being used is less concentrated and made specifically for microblading. While it is not completely permanent like a normal tattoo, it is unlike an eyebrow pencil that that have to reapply every day since it lasts much longer.

How Long Does Microblading Last?

Most of the time, microblading lasts between one to three years. There are many variables that can affect this amount of time, including a person’s type of skin, lifestyle, sun exposure, and the products they use on their face. People with oily skin may find that the microblading ink is fades quicker. This is where a touch up once a year is recommended.

Microblading Process

Once you arrive for your procedure, you will want to consult with us on the shape of eyebrows that will be drawn on. You can bring in pictures as examples of what you want, but it is best to follow the direction of your natural eyebrows and work based off of your age and facial symmetry. Deciding on the pigment of the ink should be based on the color of your natural eyebrows and your skin tone. After a clear action plan is decided on, your eyebrows and the area around them are sanitized and numbed. Then, we will draw on the brow strokes using the microblading pen. This takes around 30-40 minutes, depending on the eyebrow area we are working with. Once the drawing process is complete, after-care ointment will be applied to help with healing. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled to make any adjustments to the final product.

Microblading Aftercare

The way you take care of your eyebrows after the procedure will have a direct effect on the final look. Keep your eyebrows dry from water and sweat and avoid wiping them for at least a week; the longer the better. If you want to apply makeup to your eyebrows or use an eyebrow pencil on them after the procedure, you should also wait a week or longer. Finally, you can also apply ointment daily to speed up the healing process.
